What is the consultation session?

The consultation session is a 30-minute online video call where we get to know each other and explore what brings you to counselling. You can share any concerns or questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. Consultation is optional before starting counselling, but encouraged.

What are your qualifications and training?

I am a Registered Counsellor with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (KB12632, PA12243) and a member of the Malaysia Emotionally Focused Therapy Community (MASEFT). Education: Master of Counselling, Open University Malaysia; BSc Economics, University College London. Couples therapy training: Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) Fundamentals and Externship (ICEEFT/MASEFT); Beyond Betrayal: Healing from Affair and Infidelity in EFCT; Fighting for Connection: EFT and Intimate Partner Violence; Andolfi 4-Day Intergenerational Couple Therapy Workshop; Certified Facilitator, Prepare/Enrich Premarital and Marriage Assessment. Mindfulness-based intervention: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Introduction Course; ongoing personal mindfulness practice. Additional professional development: Certified Suicide First Aider, ASIST (LivingWorks); Certified Fundamentals of Employee Assistance (EAPA); Career Assessment and Counselling (Holland's Approach); Trauma-Informed Resilience Training (BRACE); Interpersonal Group Therapy 3-Day Workshop. My work with couples is primarily based on EFCT, my work with individuals draws on ACT, and premarital sessions use the Prepare/Enrich assessment.

How much do you charge for your services?

Consultation (online, 30 min): RM50. Couple/Marriage Counselling (in person or online, 75 min): RM300, or 3 sessions for RM800. Individual Counselling (in person or online, 60 min): RM220, or 3 sessions for RM600. Pre-marital preparation and counselling: first session (90 min) including Prepare/Enrich assessment, couple report and workbook RM500; optional follow-up sessions at couple counselling rates.

What languages do you conduct sessions in?

Sessions are mainly conducted in English and can be mixed with Bahasa Malaysia as needed. I can understand and speak simple Mandarin, though English is the main language of communication.

Question 5

Do you provide face-to-face and/or online counselling?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Face-to-face sessions are held at Centum Office Suites, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya. Online counselling is provided through Safetalk's secure telehealth platform, accessible on laptop, tablet or phone.

Question 6

What is your payment and cancellation/no-show policy?

Accepted Answer

Full payment is required within 24 hours after booking to confirm your appointment. Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. A missed session, a cancellation with less than 48 hours' notice, or arriving more than 20 minutes late without prior notice may be treated as a no-show and charged the full session fee, at the counsellor's discretion.

Question 7

Will my counselling sessions be confidential?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Everything you share is kept confidential, except in rare cases such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or when required by law. These limits to confidentiality are explained clearly before starting counselling.
