When you still love each other, but something keeps getting in the way
The same argument keeps coming back. Conversations that turn into escalating conflict, to the extent you start seeing each other as enemies rather than partners.
After engaging in this cycle for so long, one or both of you may have retreated into silence. You feel more like roommates now than lovers, and you dread the distance that has crept in between the both of you.
None of this means that your relationship has failed. It usually means a rigid pattern has taken hold that's hard to see, and often harder to change on your own.
My Work With Couples
In my work with couples, I apply an evidence-based approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
During our sessions, we will:
Identify disruptive cycles that threaten the safety and connection in your relationship.
Slow down to uncover hidden layers of emotion and longings that remain unexpressed.
Experiment with new ways of relating and responding to each other.
Build more safety, security and connection in the relationship.
Common Themes in Couples & Marriage Counselling
Communication & Conflict
The same argument that returns in a different disguise, or conversations that stop happening at all.
Recovering after an affair
Healing and rebuilding trust as a couple after experiencing infidelity and affair.
Connection & Intimacy
Living more like housemates than partners, with emotional and/or physical closeness quietly fading.
Life Transitions & Challenges
New parenthood, in-laws, relocation, or illness placing a strain on the relationship.
Each couple is unique. While there may be common themes, how you experience these challenges may vary.
We will work together in a way that honours your authenticity, both individually and as a couple. What I ask is for you to just show up as you are.
A Counsellor Dedicated In Couples Work
What My Clients Say
What is the duration and cost for the sessions?
Each couples counselling session is 75 minutes. Couples often see me for 6-10 sessions to work through the challenges in their relationship. As counselling is not a short-term fix, at least 3-6 sessions are recommended for us to start seeing some meaningful changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Couple counselling is intended for any form of committed couple - married, engaged, dating, or long-term partners.
Common reasons for attending counselling may include communication breakdown, recurring conflict, loss of connection, trust issues, or challenges navigating life transitions.
With that said, some couples come simply because something feels off and they can't fix it on their own. You don't need to be on the brink of breakup or divorce to benefit. Coming in to counselling sooner often leads to quicker and better outcomes.
-
The consultation session is a 30-minute online video call where we can get to know each other and explore what brings you to counselling.
During this session, you can share any concerns or questions you have, and figure out if you feel comfortable working with me. I will try my best to clarify your queries and explain further about what to expect for counselling.
While consultation is optional before starting counselling, it is encouraged since it can help you in making an informed decision.

Sessions are mainly conducted in English, and can be mixed with Bahasa Malaysia as needed. I can understand and speak simple Mandarin, though English would be the main language of communication.

First of all, I would like to acknowledge that this is quite a common scenario. I have spoken to many partners who are faced with this situation.
My honest response: I won't pressure your partner, and neither should you - counselling doesn't work well with coercion. I've written a blogpost specifically on this topic where I share more about what you can do if your partner is unwilling.

Couples counselling is primarily designed to help couples who want to rebuild and reconnect. It works best when both of you are committed to working on the relationship.
If one or both of you are seriously considering divorce or have significant doubts about staying in the relationship, discernment counselling may be a better fit to find clarity about what each of you want before going for couples counselling.
If you're not sure, we can discuss about the possible options for your situation in a consultation. While I do not offer discernment counselling, I can provide you with some referral options.
